About the Cheese

Baron Bigod is the finest traditional Brie-de-Meaux style cheese produced in the UK, and one of the few worldwide made directly by the farmer on the farm.

This exceptional cheese, crafted from the fresh morning milk of Montbéliarde cows, boasts a mushroomy rind encasing a smooth, silky golden paste that often oozes over a delicate, fresh, and citrusy center.

Handcrafted in small batches at Fen Farm Dairy in Suffolk, the cheese is made using traditional methods, with curds hand-ladled into large molds and aged for up to 8 weeks in a cave-like environment.

The result is a unique expression of the incredible milk from free-ranging cows grazing on wildlife-rich marshland.

Cheesemaker: Fen Farm Dairy

Fen Farm Dairy, an innovative third-generation family farm in Suffolk, England, is renowned for setting the standard for dairy sustainability.

Founded by Jonny Crickmore, who began working on the farm at a young age, and joined by his wife Dulcie, the farm has diversified into a pioneering cheese and butter making business.

Their herd of Montbéliarde cows graze the fertile marshland of the Waveney River Valley, producing nourishing milk used to create exceptional dairy products like Baron Bigod.

Fen Farm Dairy is committed to sustainable practices, including renewable energy sources and a mission to become carbon negative. The farm's dedication to quality and innovation has made their products staples in top chefs' menus and even royal tables.

Baron Bigod cheese is featured in our Great British Selection and Red Wine Selection.
