About the Wine
A beautifully luscious Hungarian dessert wine from the celebrated Tokaj region, offering a wonderful balance of honeyed richness and refreshing acidity.
Made predominantly from Furmint grapes, this golden wine reveals enticing notes of ripe apricots, candied citrus and honey, with a delicate mineral character. The palate is rich and silky, yet beautifully lifted by vibrant lemon acidity, creating an elegant balance between sweetness and freshness. The finish is long, smooth and wonderfully satisfying.
Particularly delicious with blue cheeses such as Roquefort, Gorgonzola Dolce and Lanark Blue, where its natural sweetness provides a delightful contrast to their savoury intensity. Equally lovely with fruit-based desserts or simply enjoyed on its own.
About the Producer
Dorgó is a historic vineyard estate in Tokaj-Hegyalja, Hungary's most celebrated wine region, situated approximately 250 kilometres northeast of Budapest.
The estate's beautiful historic buildings and vineyards reflect the region's centuries-old winemaking heritage. Its distinctive volcanic clay soils contribute structure, minerality and balance to the wines.
Dorgó specialises in traditional Tokaji wines, including Szamorodni, a style whose name translates as "as it comes". This refers to the practice of harvesting bunches containing a natural mixture of healthy and botrytised grapes, which can produce wines ranging from dry to wonderfully sweet.
The result is an authentic expression of one of Europe's most fascinating and historic sweet wine traditions.
