About the Cheese
Discover the allure of Golden Cenarth, a delightfully pungent artisan cheese hailing from Wales.
This round of cheese exudes a vibrant pinky-orange hue and boasts a soft, gooey texture when fully ripened.
Throughout its maturation process, Golden Cenarth undergoes regular washes with a cider brine, imparting its pronounced aroma, distinct colour, and depth of flavour.
Initially mild when young, this rind-washed semi-soft cheese develops a robust savouriness with age, complemented by a nutty undertone.
Ready to shine on any cheeseboard, Golden Cenarth can also be transformed into a gooey indulgence when baked at 200°C for 20 minutes.
Pair this Welsh gem with aromatic wines from Alsace or Germany, or enjoy it alongside a crisp, cool cider for a sensory experience that celebrates its unique character.
Cheesemaker: Caws Cenarth
Caws Cenarth embodies a rich legacy of Welsh cheesemaking that spans three generations, rooted deeply in tradition and family heritage.
Founded in 1987 by Gwynfor and Thelma Adams on their farm, Glyneithinog, amidst the lush valley of the river Cych, the dairy was a response to Milk Quotas, reviving a six-generation tradition of cheese craftsmanship.
The family's journey in cheese began as early as 1903, with ancestors Lizzie Wyn and Leisa Jones producing cheese for both family consumption and local markets.
Since its inception, Caws Cenarth has garnered acclaim for its creamy, fresh-flavoured Caerffili and expanded its repertoire to include Golden Cenarth, a standout in the realm of artisan cheeses.
The Adams family's commitment to quality shines through in every batch, crafted with meticulous attention to detail and a deep-seated passion for preserving Welsh cheesemaking traditions.
Today, Caws Cenarth cheeses are cherished both locally and internationally, embodying the essence of Welsh craftsmanship and delivering exceptional flavours cherished by cheese enthusiasts worldwide.
