Christmas Cheese Orders: Everything You Need to Know
Christmas is our busiest and most magical time of year, and we want to make sure your festive cheese arrives in perfect condition, right on time. Here’s everything you need to know about how our Christmas pre-orders and deliveries work.
🧀 How to Place Your Christmas Order
All Christmas pre-orders are taken exclusively via our online shop. At checkout, you can choose between:
- Collection from our Haddington store, or
 - Nationwide delivery with our overnight courier service.

Delivery and collection dates open three months in advance, which means December slots become available in September.
📦 Limited Daily Slots
Each cheese is cut fresh by hand by our small in-house team. Because all orders must be ready for courier collection by 2pm, the number of delivery and collection slots available each day is strictly limited.
We recommend placing your order as early as possible to secure your preferred date. Based on previous years’ experience, delivery slots are usually fully booked by the end of November.
🚚 How Delivery Works
For delivery orders, we prepare and dispatch your parcel the day before your selected delivery date using our trusted overnight courier service.
Please note that our courier is a third-party national provider, and while we always dispatch on time, occasional delays can happen due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, such as:
- Road accidents
 - Adverse weather conditions
 - Seasonal network congestion

For this reason, all selected delivery dates are treated as preferred rather than guaranteed.
We therefore strongly recommend choosing a delivery date a day or two before your event, allowing extra time in case of unforeseen delays.
Be sure to check whether your postcode falls into a 2–3 day delivery area or is excluded from Saturday deliveries here.
❄️ Cheese Safety During Transit
We take great care to ensure your cheeses arrive in perfect condition. Each order is packed in high-quality thermal pouches with ice packs, which keep the contents chilled and safe for transit, even if delivery is delayed. During the colder winter months, this insulation works even more effectively.
☎️ Need Help?
If your delivery is delayed or you need an update, you can contact the courier directly using this email address: depot175@apc-overnight.com
Of course, if you need additional assistance, our team is always happy to help via help@thecheeselady.co.uk
🎁 Cheese Storage and Longevity
Fine cheese should be stored in the fridge as soon as it arrives.
-
Soft, semi-firm, and blue cheeses keep for around 10–14 days in the fridge. (Soft cheeses packed individually by the producer may last longer unless cut.)
 -
Firm and hard cheeses can keep for up to one month.

Surface moulds may develop during storage and are completely natural on farmhouse and artisan cheeses. Simply scrape it off and enjoy the rest of the cheese as usual.
💛 Thank You for Your Understanding
We do our utmost to deliver outstanding cheeses to you during the festive season. Your patience and cooperation help us, and our hardworking couriers, make Christmas magical for cheese lovers across the country.
