Regular price £48.30The Cheese Lady's Recommended Pairings
Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella 2015
Bright and intense on the nose with aromas of preserved cherries and dried plums together with hints of fruits of the forest and cinnamon. Good weight from the alcohol and structured on the palate, opening out to attractive aromas of cherries and vanilla. Long, velvety finish.
Producer: Masi
With roots in Valpolicella Classica, just outside Verona, Masi is recognised across the globe as one of the key producers of premium Italian wines, most notably building their reputation around Amarone.
The Masi story began in 1772, when the Boscaini family acquired prestigious vineyards in the small valley called “Vaio dei Masi”, which is the origin of the company’s name. Over the years, the Boscaini family have acquired other vineyard sites in premium areas, while also remaining at the forefront of cutting edge development in the region. The winery is now controlled by the 6th and 7th generations of the family, who are probably best known for being among the best proponents of the appassimento technique.
Following this winemaking method, grapes are laid out to dry for the winter months on typical bamboo racks called “arele” in drying rooms. This concentrates their colour, sugars and tannins. Their resulting Amarone wines are rich, complex and bold and are recognised as the benchmark of quality production across the region.

Due to the relatively small scale of our cheese and condiment producers, occasionally some cheeses and condiments may be unavailable and we will have to substitute them with similar products. Please state in the notes on the Cart page, if you do not wish to have any substitutions.
